Torrevieja still retains, in spite of its spectacular growth in population, many
of its traditions, from the popular singing of Habaneras in family celebrations
to the visiting of the La Mata pinewoods at Easter time.

However, the traditions of Torrevieja reflect the style of the torrevejenses, as
they have gradually become institutionalised to form part of the festive
calendar of the town, as in the case of all the festivals in honour of the
"Purísima" amongst others.
