ASdTorrevieja Information - tourist guide: Extras, Cars and Bikes wanted for TV and Film work Extras, Cars and Bikes wanted for TV and Film work ================================================================================ Redaccion on 10 March, 2009 10:36:00 The Costa Blanca is enjoying a boom in TV and Film production work Hot on the heals of the British Oscar and box office success of 'Slumdog Millionaire', the Costa Blanca is enjoying a boom in TV and Film production work. It's not just from Spanish companies but also from the UK, Scandinavia, France and the USA. Planned productions at Alicante's Ciudad de la Luz film studios include Verano Azul 2, Triage, Tetro, Eloise in Paris and My Life in Ruins which star such names as Oscar winner Penelope Cruz's sister Monica, Uma Thurman, Christopher Lee, Colin Farrel and Van Diesel. Just around the corner in Benidorm, Johnny Vegas and cast working on the third series of 'Benidorm', so it's a busy time in the city. Costa Blanca TV have been producing show segments for the BBC, SKY, ITV and Channel 4 for the last four years and have close ties with one of the Costa Blanca's most active International talent scouts, Pauline Harwood, from Javea. Creative Director, Keith Nicol, has been working closely with Pauline on a number of projects and they are seeking new talent for future productions that are coming here in the next few months. They shall also be seeking talent and look-alikes for their own sitcom pilot, which is presently in development. "Mainly because of my involvement with the classic car scene through Club Torrevieja, I receive a dozen or more requests each year for classic and specialist cars, mainly for TV commercial work or period films" said Keith. "The City of Light film studios in Alicante is one of the most technically advanced and busiest studios in Europe, partly thanks to the good weather we enjoy plus it's better value for money than shooting around the Costa del Sol, Madrid or Barcelona areas. This is one of the few industries not affected so much by the 'crisis' that we are going though at the moment." Keith already has a number of Classic Cars on his books but is hopeful of finding a few more. "Production companies are very specific in their needs. Last year a famous beer company requested an Aston Martin, E-Type Jag and a Ferrari but, they all had to be British Racing Green! Not the most popular of colours for a Ferrari! For a Norwegian Football League promo we had a request for a black convertible sports car for a parody based upon Miami Vice." Presently they are looking for a Fiat Jolly, Mini Moke, American Classic and Muscle Cars plus Harley Davidson's, for future productions. "If anyone wishes to send me details of their car, boat, yacht or bike, along with digital photographs, we are presently building a new directory of available 'film props' and locations on www.CostaBlancaTV.com, to help overseas and local production companies with their search and to encourage them to come here." Pauline Harwood has been running her successful model agency in Javea for a number of years and some of her discoveries are now working in the USA, Italy and the UK and have appeared in Spanish Vogue plus many magazines and newspapers throughout Spain. Since the opening of the Alicante film studio she has been building a database of actors and extras to fulfill requests. If you fancy enjoying your 15-minutes or, more likely, 15-seconds of fame, which may involve rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, please send your details plus a full length and facial photograph to 'camera@CostaBlancaTV.com'. Details should include your name, location, mobile number, height, languages spoken or understood and any acting or performance experience. Interviews shall be arranged in Javea and Torrevieja followed by photographic and video sessions if required. There is no fee to register your interest to be on either database. All kinds of cars, motorbikes, specialty vehicles and actors/actresses are required. Keith added "For extra work, the more you can usually blend into the background, the more times you can be used in a production. We want 'Real People'. Tall, short, old, young, kids, bald, blond, dark, slim, cuddly, it does not matter. Every body shape and type is required. There usually is a lot of waiting around involved but it can be good fun; you are fed and watered; make a few euros plus, you'll have a few more stories to tell down the Pub."
