ASdTorrevieja Information - tourist guide: Classic Cars bring out the crowds Classic Cars bring out the crowds ================================================================================ Keith Nicol on 03 August, 2010 01:35:00 On a beautiful evening, over 35 vehicles were on display, which included an impressive selection of American muscle cars, vintage cars from the 30’s and more modern cars from the 70’s through today. Friday was a great night out for classic car fans, who made their way to Marina Salinas in Torrevieja to enjoy browsing around a wide selection of cars and bikes as part of July’s Noche de Coche event. On a beautiful evening, over 35 vehicles were on display, which included an impressive selection of American muscle cars, vintage cars from the 30’s and more modern cars from the 70’s through today. Part of the attraction of the event is that it is not associated with any of the local car clubs and so it attracts different cars each and every month. July was no exception and one of the most impressive sights was the Ford Exhibition Limousine from Calida Limousines, which at 10-metres (just over 30 feet long) took up a good section of the car park. This beautiful limo has just arrived in Spain and with room to spare for you and seven of your best friends to ride around town in comfort, it’s become a very popular attraction already. The oldest car on display was without doubt a very original 1935 Austin Ascot 12/4, which attracted lots of onlookers, amazed at the condition of this 75-year old example of Britishness, with it 1500 cc engine producing a whopping 12 hp and a top speed of 65 mph. Not bad at all for a pre-war car. At the other end of the horsepower scale, the American Corvettes, Camaros and TransAm’s had plently of horses to spare and looked great set amongst the other cars such as an Anglia, Mini, Mazda, Jaguar, SABB, Land Rover, Morgan, Fiat, Trike plus a couple of beautiful bikes from Harley Davidson and a monster Triumph sporting a 2.3 litre engine with a full size water cooled radiator to match! The next Classic car event is on Sunday August 8th in La Marina, when Club Torrevieja and friends shall be putting on display at 1300 hrs, followed by another classic car night in Redovan at Emy’s Cafeteria on Friday the thirteenth and Noche del Coche again on Friday 28th, at Marina Salinas.
