The Guardia Civil and the National Police have arrested in a joint operation 12 members of an organization specialized in the introduction of hash in the Alicante’s area. Investigations started in November 2009, when the Guardia Civil found in the Vega Baja’s region a group made up of Spanish and Moroccan men who dealt with drugs. After several investigations, it was found out that the night of November 24, 2009, the organization managed to introduce through the Alicante’s coast 1200 kilograms of hash, a drug which was stolen afterwards at its storage place by a rival gang. After the goods were robbed, the drug dealers started to suspect from a Moroccan man living in Formentera del Segura. With the aim of recovering the stolen goods, the organization recruited a girl who should have a date at a Torrevieja’s bar with the Moroccan suspect, which took place by the middle of February. At this very place two Spanish men, pretending to be agents of the Guardia Civil, introduced the Moroccan man into a car and, after ting his hands and hitting him, they took him to a countryside villa in Molina del Segura (Murcia). At this villa, they kept on attacking the man and demanded his family, who lived in Morocco, to pay one and a half million Euros to release him. As one of his captors was not watching, the kidnapped man managed to escape and asked for help in a house nearby, where the National Police of the city was called. The Guardia Civil and the National Police arrested 12 members implicated in these facts.
