Disabled

In Torrevieja there are very few problems for disabled people.

Buildings and public transport alike are equipped for wheelchair access. Likewise public roads have pavement ramps.

Sorry but there are huge problems for the disabled. I speak of parking. The list of disabled spaces (available from the tourist office)is completely innacurate, and going to the main seafront is becoming a nightmare for the walking impaired. There used to be at least 8 disabled parking spaces at the seafront (nr the fountain), they have all gone. Can you park on yellow lines with a blue disabled parking badge????????? If not where can you legally park with the blue badge?

Main places such as the Supermarkets, Prominade, Shopping Centers and Fast Food places are all clearly disabled friendly.

We also have a hard time trying to find a parking space, as they are always taken by non-badge holders.

As a whole, most places do not have wheelchair ramps, the ramps that do exist are usually too steep for the disabled person to manage on their own. Also, most business have a 1-3 steps in front.

Like anywhere only some busses are disabled access, so be prepared to wait.
