Disabled

In Torrevieja there are very few problems for disabled people.

Buildings and public transport alike are equipped for wheelchair access. Likewise public roads have pavement ramps.

well it would be great for disabled if you could use the ramps, unfortunately until the local police tow the cars that park on every crossing and park on these accessess I dont think you could claim that Torrevieja is disabled friendly

All to the good of disabled people in wheelchairs. But what about the blind and partially sighted to have to manouver around street furniture, advertisment boards, cafe umbrellas etc. a nightnare for them and their carers.

Wheelchair accsess is hopeless in Torrevieja. Paths are too narrow, cars parked on curbs, Paths with tiles missing, road edge ramps too high, need I say more! It's Spain...

Main places such as the Supermarkets, Prominade, Shopping Centers and Fast Food places are all clearly disabled friendly.

We also have a hard time trying to find a parking space, as they are always taken by non-badge holders.

As a whole, most places do not have wheelchair ramps, the ramps that do exist are usually too steep for the disabled person to manage on their own. Also, most business have a 1-3 steps in front.

Like anywhere only some busses are disabled access, so be prepared to wait.

Sorry but there are huge problems for the disabled. I speak of parking. The list of disabled spaces (available from the tourist office)is completely innacurate, and going to the main seafront is becoming a nightmare for the walking impaired. There used to be at least 8 disabled parking spaces at the seafront (nr the fountain), they have all gone. Can you park on yellow lines with a blue disabled parking badge????????? If not where can you legally park with the blue badge?
