It is not obligatory to give tips in the establishments you visit.

A tip is regarded as a gesture of appreciation for good service received. They are usually given in hotels, pubs, taxis, restaurants and ice-cream parlours and to attendants in private car parks.

Tips are voluntary and non-obligatory, which means that no establishment open to the public can demand their payment.
