Lions Youth join local Spanish musicians in joint concert
Following on from their success in Torrevieja’s municipal theatre last summer, the young British musicians of the “LIONS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH BAND” make a welcome return to the ‘city of salt’ on Sunday 19th JULY.
This unique concert, part of the town’s summer cultural programme, commences at 20.30h and admission is 5 euros. All of the proceeds will go to LIONS INTERNATIONAL CHARITIES. Advance tickets are already on sale from the municipal ticket office situated outside of the theatre and which opens daily (except Mondays) from 11.00h to 13.00h, although there should be some for sale ‘on the door’ before the start of the concert. The LIONS INTERANTIONAL YOUTH BAND was formed in Cheshire, England some 20 years ago with a view to offering the opportunity of learning a brass instrument to the young people of the area. Since then, the band has gone from strength to strength and offers classes to almost 100 young musicians. Directed by Nigel Birch, the band has successfully competed in competitions throughout the United Kingdom and further afield. LIONS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH have represented Great Britain in the prestigious “INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL FOR YOUTH” held in the Czech Republic and, inevitably, as part of the charitable association “LIONS INTERNATIONAL” have raised huge amounts of cash for deserving causes.
For this ‘one off’ concert in Torrevieja, the youngsters of the LIONS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH BAND will be joined by a quintet of extremely talented local, Spanish young musicians in the form of “ENTRECLASES BRASS”.
ENTRECLASES BRASS QUINTET:
“ENTRECLASES BRASS” is a group of five young, ‘alicantino’ musicians who formed this brass quintet in 2006, principally for their own enjoyment but with the intention of sharing their talents with a wider audience. Their vast music style ranges from baroque to contemporary music.
The members of “ENTRECLASES BRASS” are:
Luis Saúl Rubio Díaz, José Carlos Leal Contreras (both trumpets), Miguel Ángel Martínez Antolinos (horn), José Rúben Rubio Díaz (trombone) and José Manuel López Sánchez (tuba).
All of the members of “ENTRECLASES BRASS” continue their musical studies at superior level in the music conservatories of Alicante and Murcia and have individually collaborated with some of the best known symphonic orchestras throughout mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. Currently, the group receives classes in the brass academy of the Alicante conservatory under the tutorship of Rudy Korp and Nury Guarnaschelli of “Vienna Brass”.
“ENTRECLASES BRASS” has performed in various venues throughout Spain and has successfully participated in many of the most prestigious, national, superior level competitions picking up a number of first prizes and other recognitions. Currently, these young talented musicians are working upon the production of their first C.D. recording which should be in the shops around the autumn of 2009.
