The Spanish Official Gazette (BOE) has published the adjudication of the public
transport system report for the reserved platform Alicante-Airport-Torrevieja to
the company Initec Infraestructuras S.A., for a concession amount of 396,000
Euros.
This new transport service will start in the future Alicante Station and end at
the Torrevieja Hospital, and will stop at el Altet, Santa Pola, Guardamar and
Torrevieja.
The city of Torrevieja will have a first stop at Torrelamata, and will finish at
the Hospital.
This transport system will operate with electric engines to offer a high quality
service for the whole Alicante southern area. They are guided buses, similar to
the TRAM, but include the possibility of combining railways with road stretches.
The direct transport service to the Altet airport from the city of Torrevieja
has always been claimed by the citizens, as there are many residents and
tourists, mainly foreigners, coming to Torrevieja through the Alicante airport.
