The girlfriends of the arrested men did the surveillance to prevent them from being discovered and laundered the stolen money afterwards.

The Guardia Civil has arrested TEN members of an organization (6 Albanian, 3 Rumanian, 1 Bulgarian and 1 Spanish citizen) which was highly specialized in breaking into houses when there were people at home.

Investigations started in October last year, when the Guardia Civil detected the presence of a group which might be committing robberies in the Vega Baja.

After the first investigations, it was found out that this group was made of several members, most of them Albanian, with extensive criminal records and which was settled down in Torrevieja (Alicante).

Modus operandi

This group of criminals was divided into 3 or 4 member cells which had a perfectly delimited mission when carrying out a robbery (surveillance of surrounding areas of properties to be broken in, drivers and people breaking into the house).

The articles obtained from the robberies were sold, and the money was sent to their countries of origin.

At the same time, within an inhabited plot located in San Miguel de Salinas (Alicante), a hideout was found which was used by the criminals to hide tools, gloves, clothes and other effects from robberies as well as unstruck cartridges from a short gun.
