Blue and White’s mixed fortunes

THE LAST ten days have not been the most profitable for FC Torrevieja.

Won one, drawn one and lost one giving last week’s top of the table team just four points from a possible nine and a drop from the number one berth to forth! On Sunday Torry lost 1-0 away to Novelda in an evenly balanced game where Torry never looked like an attacking force to be reckoned with while on Wednesday at Vicente Garcia they fought it out with La Nuncia where the majority of the 600 crowd almost lost count of the eleven yellow cards and one red, that was handed out!

Manager Chema and his team will analyze both matches long and hard in trying to conclude how points slipped through their fingers and fans will be similarly bemused as to how and why the games have been thrown away! Wednesday’s gate of around 600 was disappointing given Torry’s fantastic start to the season and being "Top of the Table" coming into to this match! One area of concern must be that the club still does not attract the Spanish supporters in any numbers with a good 60-65% being Internationals!

The less said about Sunday’s lack-luster performance the better except to say that it’s becoming obvious that against the stronger half-a-dozen teams that fitness is going to play a big part, the team needs much more discipline regarding making rash tackles, choosing when to talk back to the referee plus their pass and move technique, or lack of it, needs to be honed on the training pitch! One minute they can look like 2B contenders, the next a Sunday kick-about in the park team of hackers!

Sunday October 2’s home game at the Vicente Garcia is against FC Jove Español who are lying 18 in 3ª Division Group VI. Kick off is at 18:00-hrs. With two poor results in the last few days, FC Torrevieja will have something to prove this weekend verses a team they have traditionally done well against. Season tickets are available at the Torry Army Office in San Luis and Ticket prices for 2011/12 are GENERAL GROUND for those Under 65: €95.00 and for the Over 65’s: €75.00 Euros while the covered seating area, VIP (TRIBUNA) is €125.00. Doors are open from an hour before kick-off.
