In their forth pre-season friendly, CD Montesinos suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of a Torrevieja CF side, who gained promotion last season and play one level above them. However, on the day, most supporters would have to agree that CD Montesinos were the better side overall.

Manager Juanpe was delighted with the turn out from the travelling supporters’ club, ‘The Full Monte’, who once again demonstrated their desire to support the club at every game. "The players and myself feel honoured to have this group supporting us and the players respond to their support at both home and away matches".

The game itself started quite well for the visitors who looked the better side even when they went in 2-0 down at the break. Had ‘Lady Luck’ been a little kinder to Montesinos, that two goal halftime deficit would certainly have been less. Despite this setback Juanpe and the players responded magnificently, and they eventually levelled the score in the second half with goals from Macan and Becker, before Torrevieja CF, against the run of play, scored their winner.  Had it not been for some excellent goal keeping from the Torrevieja goalkeeper, and the three shots that came back off the woodwork, CD Montesinos would have won this game quite comfortably.

But football is all about scoring goals and not conceding more, and although this result went against Montesinos, it clearly demonstrates that the club can look forward to a good season in the 2nd Regional Division where they will not face too many sides as strong as Torrevieja CF. Their fifth and final pre season match takes place at home on Thursday 8th September, with a 2030 kick off against another local tram, San Fulgencio in what should prove a very entertaining encounter. The league season kicks off on the weekend of 17/18 September, and they start with an away game at Sporting Saladar.
