CELEBRATION OF THE DAY OF THE ELDERLY.

8.000 people are estimated to come to this event.

The celebration of the Day of the Elderly will take place at the "Aquopolis" aquatic park, from 10 a.m., next Tuesday 1st of May.

The Mayor of Torrevieja, Pedro Hernández Mateo, has announced that this even has been made as a tribute to elderly people, a day to enjoy with different activities on schedule, such as dancing, a variety of entertainments, food, etc., a day of joy and a good atmosphere where between 8.000 to 9.000 people are estimated to join this event.

The Town Hall of Torrevieja has made a special programme of activities and food tasting. Six big "paellas" for 1.200 portions will be cooked, barbecues, snacks, Spanish potatoe omelette, drinks, cakes... and of course music and dancing with live performances.

In order to prevent from any casualties, there will be a team made by two doctors, two nurses, the Local Red Cross, the Local Police, the Civil Defence. A bus service will be available for those who may wish to come to the event. The timetable for theses buses, just for this special occasion, will run at 10:00 a.m. and at 11:30 a.m., in the morning, and the return will be at 17:30 p.m., 19:30 p.m. and 21:30 p.m.

Meeting point for this special bus service:

* Bus 1: "Acequión" third age centre, departure from the Rafal Street.

* Bus 2: "Pedro Lorca" third age centre, departure from the main Bus Station.

* Bus 3: "La Mata" third age centre, departure from La Mata Church.

* Bus4: "San Pascual" third age centre, departure from the Diego Ramírez Street, between the Patricio Pérez and Orihuela Streets.

Bus 5: departure from the "Eras de la Sal" Bus Station.
