CRIS Centre opens in Torrevieja

There are now 15 professionals working in Torrevieja, which is helping ADIEM to begin to develop workshops for the treatment of the disease.

Monday october 10, 2011 was World Health Mental, Day and in recognition of this Torrevieja chose this special day to open the Centre for Rehabilitation and Social Integration (CRIS - Centro de Rehabilitación e Integración Social (CRIS)) for the mentally ill, with the transfer of all equipment from the ADIEM Association. Tomás Ballester, Torrevieja’s Councillor for Social Welfare, Director of  ADIEM Francisco Canales and the vice-president of ADIEM Eduardo Riesco held a Press Conference on Monday to show the new facilities of CRIS.

There are now 15 professionals working in Torrevieja, which is helping ADIEM to begin to develop workshops for the treatment of the disease. ADIEM also offers advice, guidance and psychosocial support in sheltered housing, home care services, programs of psychosocial rehabilitation, employment support services, schools, families’ social club and awareness-raising, awareness and information. The Centre for Rehabilitation and Social Integration (CRIS) is located on the Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas, beside ALPE, where the Needle is located, on a plot of 5,000 square meters and built for a budget of €1,700,000. This was funded from both FEIL (30%) and the Plan Trust promoted by the Generalitat Valenciana (70%): some €600,000 from the Ministry of Social Welfare, through the FEIL, and the rest, nearly €1,200,000 euros, through the Trust Plan.

Under the slogan “Cada pieza cuenta, las unimos?” ( "With every piece, we unite’) ADIEM have install several information desks in Torrevieja and in Callosa de Segura, Orihuela and Almoradi, where information leaflets will be distributed on mental illness, its treatment, detection, symptoms and to provide information about the services provided by ADIEM TORREVIEJA. On Friday 14 October, they will have information tables in the Torrevieja’s City Centre, at Cuba and La Loma Health Centre.
