DEAD BODY FOUND IN A SUNKEN CAR IN IRRIGATION CHANNEL

The car was property of a man from Montesinos, disappeared in October.

Yesterday in the late evening a dead body was found in a car sunken into an irrigation channel in San Fulgencio. The body was already in an advanced decomposition state.

The vehicle was property of a young man from Montesinos, living in an urbanization of San Fulgencio. His family reported his disappearance in October.

A farmer notified the police when he saw car tyres on the water surface of the channel.

Local police men, Guardia Civil patrols, and fire fighters discovered the car, a grey coloured tourist class Peugeot 306 with aileron.

When they took out the car from the channel, a dead body with safety belt on was also discovered inside the car. The fire fighters had to use all their skills to avoid dismembrance of the corpse.

In the area next to the irrigation channel, tyre marks were found, leading to the sunken vehicle.

The first indications lead to the conclusion that the driver might have had an accident a few months ago and that nobody noticed anything until the water level dropped, which happened on Tuesday.

The drop of water level was caused by the use of water for irrigation. This made the appearance of the car tyres possible.
