DEATH OF A 9-MONTH-OLD BABY IN VILANOVA FOR CHILD-BATTERING

A nine-month-old baby died last Sunday in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) due to presumed chil-battering by the very members of his family.

The baby was admitted to hospital already dead on arrival at the province hospital “Sant Antoni Abad” of Vilanova i la Geltrú where the doctors confirmed he showed clear evidence of old child-battering.

Waiting for the results of the autopsy, five persons of the familiar circle have been arrested, including the mother of the baby, an 18-year-old woman.

The very relatives of the baby, all of them Spanish, took the baby to hospital around 05:00 a.m. together to police agents of the Vilanova town.

Apparently it was the mother of the baby who left him in the care of some relatives because she “had to go to a party with some friends”.
