The local dog kennel collected 619 animals during 2009

76 animals, most of them dogs, are still in the local dog kennel boxes.

During last 2009, the local dog kennel collected a total of 619 animals, of which 483 were dogs, 122 were cats and 14 of them belonged to different species such as gulls, 2 harriers, 1 ferret and 1 tarantula. The months when they collected animals the most were June (89 animals collected), October (79), May (76) and August (51).

Of all animals collected by the local dog kennel, 171 have been given back to their owners, while 274 were donated, 12 have been sent to Recovery Centres (Centros de Recuperación), such as the San Vicente del Raspeig one, which belongs to the Generalitat Valenciana (2 iguanas, 1 kestrel, 2 harriers and 1 ferret), as most of them are protected species.

It is also important to highlight that they have also collected animals from the street which had suffered accidents or had been knocked down, which were later operated on and 6 of them were adopted afterwards; some of them, due to their bad health situation, had to be put to sleep.

Finally, just indicate that the local dog kennel has nowadays 40 boxes for collected animals.
