New Independent Supporters' Club

New FC Torrevieja
Independent Supporters Club / Peña is born,
‘FC TorryFans’

Following a recent meeting by supporters of FC Torrevieja, it was decided to form a new independent supporters’ club for local football team FC Torrevieja.  This will be the third supporters’ club / peña associated with the football club.

The sole aim of the new supporters’ club is ‘to support FC Torrevieja’.  The name chosen for the new supporters club is FC TorryFans (FCTF), to reflect support for this long established and respected local football club.

Eduardo (Eddie) Manuel Cagigao Souto, the elected president of the new supporters’ club / peña, only agreed to form this new club after representation from many fellow fans who felt that they lacked representation from the other peñas.  Eddie has vast experience of this type of association both in Spain and the UK, and is seen as the ideal president to help further the cause of these fans.

A committee has been formed for the new club / peña by supporters who have a huge amount of experience at running this type of association, and many of the names will be familiar to football fans:

President: Eddie Cagigao, 637869602; Vice President: Fred Griggs; Vice President Mike Hewison; General Secretary: Alex Dunn, 637751301; Treasurer: Howard Yeats; Assistant Treasurer: Alex Dunn; Membership Secretary: Penny Willits; Social Secretaries: Roger & Pauline Waller, fctorryfanssocial@hotmail.com ; Website Manager: Nick Edwards; Media Secretary: Ian Gully, fctorryfansmedia@hotmail.com.

The website can be accessed at www.fctorryfans.com and general enquiries can be e-mailed to fctorryfans@hotmail.com

Eddie Cagigao is quoted as saying “Most big clubs in Spain have many Peñas with varying aims and levels of support.  As a football club, the more supporters’ clubs / peñas it has, the greater level of support it can expect and the more the stature of the club increases.  Although this new supporter’s club / peña is affiliated with FC Torrevieja, it will remain independent and
Non-political and all major decisions will be referred to the membership for final approval”.

Ian Gully
Media Secretary

well now, andy hermida has resigned, the new peña, which has not ASKED to be officially recognised by the club and is a totally INDENDENT peña, has over 150 members and growing by the day.
Our members are based all over the world, including Uk,Spain, France, USA, Canada and even Hong Kong.

We are here to support FCT and are a totally legal peña, registered with the Valencian Authorities.

Peter, join our ever growing peña and you too can have a vote.

When Ed was president of FC Torrevieja, the Torry Army had to ask him for his permission to use the club's logo.
As Torrevejense says it is is great irresponsibility to say he is affiliated to the Club.
When were the elections for this new Pena carried out? I have a funny feeling that all the committee members voted themselves onto this committee. 'All major decisions will be refered to the membership'.
None of the people I asked had any idea of the voting! Very Democratic.

I am the President of the football club and am not aware of this organisation or that it is affiliated in anyway to FC Torrevieja also permision has not been asked to use the FC Torrevieja emblem and no one from this organisation has made any contact with football club.

The football club does no recognise this organisation as we have to vet all those Peñas.
