Festival Latino Mediterraneo

Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September

It´s a full weekend of music and fun at the Municipal Theatre this weekend as the International Latin and Mediterranean Festival comes to town. The ladies’ choir, Cantabile, directed by Jennifer Morton, are performing on Saturday September 10th at 2000-hrs as part of the Festival organised by ASILA – the Immigrants’ Association of Torrevieja.
The  two day, Festival Latino Mediterraneo takes place on both Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September, each day starting at 20.00h in the 'Teatro Municipal'. The festival features music and dance representative of many of the various nationalities resident in cosmopolitan Torrevieja. Included amongst the artists performing on the stage of the theatre will be 'Grupo Paya' flamenco ballet, dances from various South American countries as well as the Ukraine and, for the first time in this event, the mostly British, ladies choir ‘Cantabile.

The festival terminates with a dance display offered by the Mexican State Ballet Company. Tickets to this special, international gala are priced at a reasonable five euros and can be obtained from the ticket office as usual, before the event or from two hours before the commencement of the performance. On Saturday 10th September, Cantabile will appear with the National Ballet of Mexico to depict the arrival of the Spanish in the New World, and links forged between the Old and New Continents and religions thereafter. The ladies are honoured to be asked to represent The Old World in this spectacular event.
