“Sagrado Corazón de Jesús” (the Sacred Heart) Fiestas

June 6-13.

The Sacred Heart festivities started on Sunday, 6h of June and will keep on being celebrated until Sunday, 13th of June, when the Holy Procession will take place.

All along the week, the Torrevieja’s “de la Punta” neighbourhood will deeply enjoy all different   events organized by the Asociación del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús (the Sacred Heart Association) together with the Fiestas Department of the Torrevieja’s Council.

The Romería (pilgrimage) taking the Sacred Heart image to the San Roque’s church was celebrated last Sunday, 6th of June.

Fro Monday on, the neighbourhood streets will be full of fiestas, hustle and bustle and will offer different children amenities, such as gymkhanas, mobile disco and gift bingos.

The coronation of the new queen of the Sacred Heart, Micaela Sánchez Ballester, will take place next Saturday, 12th of June at 9pm in the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen, and on Sunday, 13th of June, the fiestas will come to an end with the holy Sacred Heart procession, which will start at 9pm when the holy mass blessing the new image throne is finished.

Finally, it is worth highlighting that the recently reformed Plaza de Oriente will be, once again, the centre of all religious acts and festivities celebrated during the week.
