New film production in Torrevieja
It’s film time in Torrevieja. No, not a night out at the movies but a new film production shall be shooting this summer around the city.
Back in April 2009, a collaboration agreement was established between the city of Torrevieja and Ciudad de la Luz SAU. As such, the main Office of Tourism was designated as Film Office of the Audiovisual Industrial Complex and they provide help and assistance to film, television and media companies that wish to work around the city. Last week, the Office of Tourism Alto de la Casilla, coordinated a casting for ‘El Olivo Productions’ on Wednesday June 3 for a new film production entitled, “The colour of the Ocean” to be shot in Torrevieja, Alicante and surrounding areas. The Councillor for Tourism, Tomás Arenas Bueno, reported that the Torrevieja Film Office exists to promote and encourage the audiovisual sector in the municipality of Torrevieja attracting, motivating, enabling and supporting the filming of audiovisual works in the Ciudad de la Luz and Torrevieja. Over fifty people attended the casting, which was aimed at children and young adults and due to start production in the next few weeks.
In 2010 a number of local production companies have sought assistance from the Torrevieja Film Office including Transcendent Films, Prime Productions, Photo Video Spain and Costa Blanca TV, producing various projects from competition entries through commercials, documentaries, lifestyle video and sports. Kris Koster from Transcendent Films commented that Graham Knight, the Director of the Office for Foreign Residence had been a huge help in acting as an intermediately in obtaining various licences and access to sites. Nick Knight from Costa Blanca TV added that one of their new undertakings has been helping English speaking producers with location scouting, casting days and specialist vehicle hire, for the likes of the Norwegian Football League, Heineken and most recently Coke Cola.
Look out for ‘The Colour of the Ocean’ reaching the cinema sometime 2011, allowing you to go to the movies and see Torrevieja projected on the Big Screen you one and all to see.
