They will offer two concerts, one of which will be shared with the town's own prestigious Coros y Orquesta Salinas'. The Holman Climax is a much travelled choir and is considered amongst the top choirs in the principality of Cornwall.

Holman Climax Choir will share on of their concerts with Torrevieja’s most authentic ‘Habaneras’ choir in the form of the male voices and Mediterranean instruments of our very own ‘Coros y Orquesta Salinas de Torrevieja’ who will also be on the stage of the pretigious municipal theatre on Wednesday 14th May. The torrevejense choir was originally formed back in the 1970’s by the town’s ‘adopted son’, Maestro Ricardo Lafuente Aguado, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Whislt the choristers continue the tradition of ‘Habaneras’ songs, the majority of their repertoire consisting of compostions by the ‘Maestro’ himself with their voices accompanied by guitar, manolin and lute, the baton is now ably handled by the local, talented musician, Manuel Martínez Guirao, currently the technical director of the towns’ ‘Patronato de Habaneras’ which organises the prestigious annual competition each summer.

The Choir, originally known as CLIMAX Male Voice Choir added the name HOLMAN to its title during the late 1960's after the two companies of Holman's and Climax joined together. It was originally formed back in 1940.
The choir is now privileged to have as its President the internationally know Cornish Composer Goff Richards and as its Honorary Vice Presidents Benjamin Luxon CBE and Alan Opie, internationally known Baritone singers.
‘Holman Climax’ has continued with its policy of charitable work bringing help to many hundreds of charitable organisations and thousands of pounds for their various causes.

Over the years, the choir has competed successfully in contests throughout Britain from Llangollen to London. Other achievements include international honours in the B.B.C.'s 'Let the People Sing' competition including the cherished Rose Bowl for the most outstanding entry from the British Isles. They have also received awards from the Cornish Gorsedd and have won the Edgar Kessell Gold Cup for the best performance of any choir at the Cornwall Music Festival among their honours.

The most recent success was in May 2003 at the International Male Voice Choir Competition held at the Hall for Cornwall, Truro, when they came third overall behind choirs from Hungary and Finland. Holman-Climax were awarded the shield for the Best Cornish Choir.

The Choir has been privileged to appear with many outstanding artists including Wendy Eathorne, John Treleaven, Carlo Curley, and the Bournemouth Synfonietta the Band of the Grenadier Guards and Black Dyke Mills Band.
As one would expect of such a long established and experienced male voice choir, Holman Climax offers a vast and varied repertoire which includes almost every type of music style. In any one of the concerts of this accomplished choral group, there is always something to appeal to every musical taste. Their music has been recorded on a number of C.D.’s, the sales of which reflect the poularity of this prestigious Cornish choir.
In keeping with their position as one of the premier Choirs in Cornwall and the Westcountry, the Choir has completed successful tours of America and Europe and is continuing this policy both to gain international experience and to further the good name of Cornish singing.

Angela Renshaw (Musical Director)
The beginning of 2008 sees exciting changes for one of Cornwall’s top male voice choirs, Holman-Climax. The most significant of these sees the appointment of a new Musical Director with an established reputation. Angela Renshaw, already well-known in the county for her work with both choirs and the county music service takes up the baton from renowned Cornishman and bard, Roger Wills. Both will work together for a period of time before Angela takes full charge in July
Angela originally came from North West Leicestershire, a coal mining area, and feels very much at home in Cornwall with it’s great mining heritage which gave rise to the tradition of male voice singing. She studied for a degree in Music at Leeds, where Violin, Piano and Voice were her areas of study. Following on from this she took a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, in Music.
She set up and directed a Cornish Primary Boys Choir and Cornish Young Male Choir for the 2007 International Male Voice Festival working with over 250 boys in this exciting project. As a result of the success of the Boys Choir, she was approached to set up a Cornwall Boys' Choir which is funded by the Music Service and supported by the International Festival Committee and the newly appointed Artistic Director, Peter Davies.
