Incentives for new business in Torrevieja

If you are unfortunate enough to have been unemployed for a year or two and are registries as such, Torrevieja’s Town Hall have stepped in with an incentive program to help return you to work.

Francisco Moreno, from Torrevieja’s Department of Town Planning announced last week that the council have approved a draft amendment to the "Fiscal Ordinance regulating the Opening Licence Fee for Establishments." The main innovation of this ordinance is the inclusion of a new article (Article 13), which provides a rebate of the fee for new companies and establishments that are actively recruiting Torrevieja’s unemployed.

Francisco Moreno said that  that bonuses have now been set at 40% of the normal rate in the event that such activity results in the hiring of two unemployed people, who have been out of work for one or more years. As a further incentive, the bonus rises to 50% if both have been unemployed for a period of more than two years.

The Department of Town Planning noted that the commitment of the governing Popular Party government continues to create favourable conditions for increased production in the city and consequently, leading to a decline in unemployment. Francisco Moreno announced that the scope of development measures will extend to the streamlining of processes, such as environmental licensing and activities. To do this, he reported “the Local Government approved on Friday, October 21, the new proposed " Ordinance License for the Opening of Public Entertainment and Public Recreation facilities." The main innovation introduced in this new Ordinance is the simplification of procedures for new activities to generate favourable economic conditions.” The most significant benefit is one of time in that new business ventures will be able to obtain an opening license within one month if all legal and regulatory conditions are met.

Finally, Francisco Moreno stated that “away from the political arena and erratic economic and aimless conditions that we have become used to from the present Government of Spain, in the twilight of socialist Zapatero’s disastrous term, the governing team from the Partido Popular continues to look for ways to improve the city’s economic conditions. Therefore, any proposed idea that offers social significance and involves new measures to encourage employment and economic activity, is the best medicine to be applied at this time.”
