J Mullins irish Pub celebrates 10th anniversary
There are few pubs in Torrevieja, that are not located on the downtown tourist trail that have been around for a decade or more.
One pub that has been here that length of time and lived to tell the tale is one of Torrevieja’s original Irish Pubs, John Mullin’s, and on the weekend of February 6th and 7th they celebrated their 10th Anniversary serving Guinness to the faithful. It was fun for all the family from mid-morning to the wee-hours as Mullins celebrated with live music from the Liverpool Band and Filiu, a Striptease (apparently – as I was tucked up safely I bed by this time!), a giant paella, gifts, henna tattoos, make up, bouncing castle for children plus an exhibition of classic cars.
In such a multicultural town, one of the odd things about Mullins is that it attracts a clientele that is almost 100% Spanish, with very little English to be heard spoken over the entire weekend or in fact, anytime that one visits.
In these days of doom and gloom for many hostelries, with dozens for sale or closed already, Mullin’s is one of the few that always seems to be busy, possibly because they are an Irish Pub that caterers to the Spanish market, serving good pub grub, excellent Spanish Coffee and of course, that all important pint of the cold, black stuff; Guinness. It’s certainly worth a visit and can be found just off Avda. Habaneras on C/ Caballero de Rodas 211, a few hundred yards up the hill from Playa Los Locus or Purisima and close to Marsol Internacional Realty.
