Another park for Torrevieja
The "Plaza José Manuel Caballero Bonald Poet "is adjacent to the Third Age apartment building at Maestro Francisco, Casanovas, Diego Ramirez and Maria Gil.
Yet another park and garden was opened to the public this week in Torrevieja when the mayor of Torrevieja, Pedro Hernández Mateo, accompanied by Eduardo Gil Rebollo Torrevieja’s Councillor for Parks and Gardens plus much of the municipal corporation, inaugurated the Plaza dedicated to the writer and poet José Manuel Caballero JerezBonald, who has been closely linked to the city of Torrevieja for many years due to his position as chairman of the Jury for the International Poetry Competition "Ciudad de Torrevieja".
La Plaza José Manuel Caballero Bonald Poet "is adjacent to the Third Age apartment building at Maestro Francisco, Casanovas, Diego Ramirez and Maria Gil. It has a area of 4,000 square meters and has been designed by in-house by Eduardo Gil’s department . Vegetation comes from mostly woodland transplanted from the Plaza de Oriente after being remodelled to add to the ambiance of the area. The focal point of the square is the trunk of a large centennial olive tree, which was recorded in a work written by José Manuel Caballero Bonald.
Hundreds of local residents, from babies to great grandparents flooded the park to chat to the mayor and test out the facilities which include games for children (a large slide in the shape of an ant), petanque courts and a playground Biosalud for seniors. A series of drawings of ants embedded in the floor tiles give a twist to this park dedicated to the writer and poet.
