A man entrenched himself for over three hours and threatens to blow his house up

The operation started when the now arrested man’s stepson, a 13-year-old boy, informed the police that his mother was being attacked.

Last Saturday, a man worried the security forces after entrenching himself for over three hours time in a property of Torrevieja, where at about 4 p.m., he had apparently hit his partner and her son, a minor.

Six Guardia Civil’s patrols and several ambulances went to the number 44 of calle Los Gases to try to take out from a fifth floor a man who was armed with several knives and threatened to blow his house up.

As the Torrevieja’s firemen explained, the man held “solvent, ammonia and other flammable products” he assured he had spread the whole house with.

Over twelve agents of the Guardia Civil carried out the negotiations, to which at several moments the man seemed to surrender and go out, but he ended up by changing his mind and started threatening again. In the end, some Guardia Civil agents had to break in to catch the man at about 7 p.m., before the amazed faces of dozens of neighbours.

This Spanish man, aged around 40, could face now other crimes apart from the charges of abuse and menaces to the authorities.

I wish the english police dealt with this sort of thing as professionally, quickly and thoroughly as the Spanish police deal with events in Spain. No messing around and not let off.
