Missed chances prove costly for CD Montesinos

CD Montesinos 1 – 1 Deportivo Orihuela

Last week’s opening fixture saw CD Montesinos gain a point in their away draw at Saladar, where this week they failed to take the home advantage against Deportivo Orihuela who were looking to take at least a share of the points, which they did with an equaliser towards the end of the game.

“Monte” never really dominated this match although they had by far the better chances, with Macan in particular missing his fair share, although it was he who opened the scoring with a superbly taken goal midway through the first half.

Once the goal went in, many in the ever growing crowd felt that they would go on to win this game comfortably. However, once again they were let down by some poor finishing and by not playing enough ‘football’; something that will need to be corrected before next week-end’s away trip to Benejuzar.

After the match, the CD Montesinos manager expressed his disappointment, not only at the result, but at the manner in which the team played, and he vowed that for the next match “I will be making various changes” He also went on to say “I apologise to the many fans in attendance for today’s performance and assure them we will be working hard during the week to remedy the situation”.
