OPENED THE EXHIBITION ABOUT THE FIRST -JUAN APARICIO- CENTENARY: -MY BELOVED TORREVIEJA-.
Juan Aparicio founded the Official School of Journalism in Madrid in 1941, and later on, in 1952 in Barcelona.
The Mayor of Torrevieja, Pedro Hernández Mateo, opened the exhibition called “I Juan Aparicio Centenary: My beloved Torrevieja”, which will be open until the 23rd of May at the “Vista Alegre” Exhibition Hall of Torrevieja.This Spanish writer and politician, Juan Aparicio, founded the Official School of Journalism in Madrid in 1941, and also, in 1952, the Official School of Journalism in Barcelona. He was also founder and editor of many newspapers like “La Estafeta Literaria”, “El Español”, “Así es”, “Fantasía”, “La Gaceta de la Prensa Española”, “Fénix”, “Memoranda” or “Documenta”. In 1946 he became editor of the newspaper “Pueblo”. His interests were the villages where he lived, his hometown Guadix and his adoptive town Torrevieja, where he stayed for long seasons.
One of his contributions to the town of Torrevieja was the foundation of the National Habaneras Song Competition, and also the foundation of the local weekly magazine “Vista Alegre”, which is also the name for one of the most promenades of the city of Torrevieja. His wife, Carmen Jalón, was also honoured giving her name to the Local Municipal Library of Torrevieja.
