Pedro Hernandez Mateo was presented with another honour last week, when he was named ‘Primer Socio de Honor Puerto Deportivo Marina Internacional’.

At a simple ceremony at the headquarters of the International Marina Yacht Club, Hernández Mateo, former Torrevieja Mayor and Deputy of the Valencian Autonomy was delighted to accept the honour. The event was attended by the top brass of the Yacht Club, led by Club President Antonio Luis Dávalos, Marina Manager Trinidad  Pujantes, Councillor of Finance and Deputy Provincial Tourism, Joaquín Albaladejo and Councillor for Fishing, Eduardo Gil Rebollo.

In his address, Club President Antonio Luis Dávalos highlighted the personal commitment of Hernández Mateo, toward the marina and more specifically with the Yacht Club. From its inception, to supporting all of the projects that have been developed over the years plus the special interest he has shown in promoting the ‘Pascual Flores Regatta.’

Mateo mentioned that the International Marina and Yacht Club have forged close relationships with the Real Club Nautico of Torrevieja and more recently the marina "Marina Salinas" and that Torrevieja is now one of the biggest yachting centres in the Mediterranean with more than one million square meters of Bay area. The facilities also have been recognised by Valencia with the International Marina being given a ‘Quality Tourism’ award, while at the same time not forgetting about the traditional activities of Torrevieja, such as fishing and salt. Hernandez Mateo finished by promising “wherever you are, I will be fighting for Torrevieja."
