Citizen of Torrevieja arrested for Internet Fraud

The man under arrest had made five bank transfers via Internet amounting to 22,400 €. The man was arrested at the bank’s branch when he was trying to withdraw the money in cash.

The Guardia Civil arrested a man in Torrevieja as the alleged perpetrator of a bank fraud via Internet known as “phising”.

The Guardia Civil became aware possibly fraudulent transfers were being made to three bank accounts belonging to the same person in two different banks.

After the corresponding investigations, it was found out that the holders of the accounts of origin had not made neither authorized the mentioned operations.

Three of those transfers, amounting to 16,770€, had already been collected by their addressee, but there were still two of them, amounting to 5,700€, which were still deposited into the alleged perpetrator’s account.

Under these events, the Guardia Civil started a surveillance operation which ended up last week with the arrest of a Brazilian 43 year-old man who was trying to collect the last deposits in cash.
