The members of the jury, Jane Cronin, Carole Drewry, Marie Bance, David Stokes and Paul Mutter, they were all given a souvenir for their cooperation and tough work made for this third edition.

1000 books are going to be published which will be given for free at the Museum of Salt and Sea and at the Tourist Office. Having finished the prize giving ceremony, the winners of this III edition signed books to those present at the Palace of Music, and a wine was offered to all assistants. Most of the writers who have taken part in this year’s competition, as well as residents and the attendant public from Torrevieja and the surrounding villages, had the chance to meet.

The origin of this competition began in September 2004, launched by the Culture and Foreigners Torrevieja City Hall Councillors together with the cooperation of the website www.torrevieja.com. The main aim of this new competition was to encourage residents and foreign visitors to be part of the culture in Torrevieja and reflect their personal point of view of this town which they have chosen to settle down.

Among the existing novelties of this III edition of this short story writing competition in English it is important to outstand the creation of a second category, the free subject category, as well as the rise in the amount of the prizes (1.500 euros in prizes) and the number of prizes, from 3 to 6 prizes.
