Match Report Racing San Miguel vs CD Montesinos
CDM Team: Cubano, Yohny, Becker, Fernando, Rubio, Sanchez, MA, Ruben, Andres, Macan and Edu.
Subs: Lopez, Diego
CD Montesinos fell to their first defeat of the season, away at local rivals, Racing San Miguel. In front of a bumper crowd with a large away following, ‘Monty’ missed the chance of going clear at the top of the division with their worst performance of the season.
On a very heavy and uneven playing surface caused by the heavy rainfall of the last few days, the home side adapted far better to the playing surface. They took the lead 20 minutes into the first half when they scored on the break. Before that, the San Miguel goal keeper had to be at his best to keep out a Macan effort, minutes later he thwarted an Edu shot as well.
The home side then had a player sent off and they played from the 25th minute onwards with 10 men. The extra man meant nothing, as Montesinos simply could not put two passes together. It is not often that a match finishes with both goalkeepers being the two best players on the field, but in this case that was the truth. Both keepers kept their side in the game, although Cubano, in the Montesinos goal, was sent off midway through the second half leaving both sides with 10 men.
San Miguel took full advantage and scored from the resulting penalty, which was given by the official even though the foul had been committed outside the penalty area. A few minutes from time, San Miguel scored their third goal of the game to give them a merited 3-0 victory. In doing so they inflicted the first defeat of the season on a dejected looking CD Montesinos side, which must now pick themselves up, as they entertain the league leaders at home next SUNDAY (27/11/2011) with a 4pm kick off.
