TORREVIEJA.com - Interactive website of the city of Torrevieja, in Alicante, Spain.: RESULTS OF THE MUNICIPAL LOCAL ELECTIONS IN TORREVIEJA, 27TH OF MAY 2007 RESULTS OF THE MUNICIPAL LOCAL ELECTIONS IN TORREVIEJA, 27TH OF MAY 2007 ================================================================================ Redaction on 29 May, 2007 11:35:25 The “Partido Popular” happens to win the absolute mayority for the fifth time in the local municipal elections celebrated last Sunday 27th of May. 53,04% of the voting went for the “Partido Popular” in Torrevieja and they obtain 14 city councilmen; 28,95% of the voting went for the “PSOE” and they obtain 7 city councilmen, losing 1 councilman; 7,41% of the voting went for “The Green Party”, “Los Verdes”; 7,65% of the voting went for “Esquerra Unida, these last two political parties obtain one more city councilman, so each one of them have now 2 city councilmen at the Town Hall. The “PSD” and the “Partido Humanista” do not obtain any city representative. The total number of votes once made the 100% of the votes counting is as follows: Partido Popular (PP): 11.863 votes PSOE: 6.475 votes. Izquierda Unida: 1.712 votes. Los Verdes: 1.658 votes. PSD: 268 votes. Partido Humanista: 72 votes. All in all there have been 22.593 votes which makes a participation of 50,16%. The abstention has reached a 49,84%, which means an increase of five points more in relation to the latest elections, 318 blank votes and 227 spoiled ballot paper votes. Once the results were already made public, the elections day concluded at the Constitution square where the “Partido Popular “ (PP) celebrated its victory, and Pedro Hernández, supported by lots of people, went to the Immaculate Conception Church to pay a floral tribute to the Patron Saint of Torrevieja, the Immaculate Conception. The celebration went on until early in the morning of the day after at the big tent at the harbour.
