2 British citizens and sexual offenders stopped and arrested in Torrevieja

The detainees will be turned in this morning, in a National Hearing for its extradition to United Kingdom.

Commandment of the Civil Guard of Alicante with a central station in Torrevieja arrested on Tuesday, the 28th of August, 2007, B.T of 67 years of age and G.S of 45 years of age, both of British nationality, on which fell a European order of extradition solicited by the United Kingdom to fulfil their sentence in the U.K.

The prisoners had a history record in the Registry of Sexual Delinquents in their country of origin, and are catalogued respectively like “high risk” and “average risk”. Such had been condemned by the commission of diverse crimes in United Kingdom, the case of B.T. for sexual aggression to minors and possession of pornographic material, and in the case of G.S by tenenciade infantile pornography, although also denunciations of sexual abuse to minors consist against him.

The Civil Guard had been previously alerted by the British authorities, through Interpol, of the possible presence of the prisoners in Spanish territory and the danger of such. After various carried out investigations by the Civil Guard of Alicante, a given likely location of the individuals was mentioned that they shared a house in the locality of Torrevieja.

The prisoners, to whom any crime in Spanish territory is not imputed on them, have been given a National Hearing by the Central Court of Instruction, which will decide on its possible delivery to United Kingdom.

Well I am saddened to hear these comments especially when I moving and retiring in Torry end of July. My wife and I currently speak spanglish but do intend to have s[anish lessons as I believe it is the decent thing to do..."as in rome". I am a dog owner an you can be assured that you will have no dog poo issues from me...maybe spot fines should be introduced for irresponsible dog owners. Torry looks good to me and I will NOT be put off by these harsh comments. Torry is cleaner than my own area in the UK, keep up the good work. RESPECT

Nothing wrong with Torry!! look at where you have come from, then step back and compare. Also it,s not the Spanish to blame for many problems, as ,if you do your research, you will find the "Locals" are in the Minority, by a large majority.Admitted ,the DOG Mess situation needs to be addressed ASAP, This is a disgrace, so c,mon Pedro (Mayor) GET IT SORTED and get more tourists back to Torry,Wonderful weather,Markets and relax!! Life is what YOU make it!!x

I give my praise to Guardia Civil as they also recently aprehended a gang of Albanian's robbing houses and businesses even dressing up as Security Guards. Please do not down criticise the Torrevieja Area. It is a lovely place. You just have to be extra-vigilant. Do not put your guard down such as do not use handbags and walk where it is well lit with something to protect you for assault. Walk in pairs or groups.

Pfui Teufel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just returned from a weeks holiday in torrevieja, it was the holiday from hell. the place is filthy, graffeti everywhere, went to alicanti for the day to get aeay from the place and my friends bag was stolen! spent 6 hours in the police station where no one spoke any english, along with 20 other people who all had had their bags stolen. will never holiday in torrevieja again, it is not a holiday resort for anyone other than the spanish, we were all so glad to be out of the place and flying home. it was like downtown bagdad.

Strange translation: Audiencia Nacional = National Hearing? How about National Court? The rest of the articles I have looked at are just as strange.

Hello Torrevieja,

Once again, the Guardia Civil in Torrevieja deserves congratulations for apprehending these two dangerous individuals. I don't want to point the finger at any one nationality, however, I must admit, that lately your local news advises of many criminals, varying in crimes, that are from Britain and / or from other countries who are not residents of Torrevieja. The Guardia Civil's actions will further serve to deter such criminals from going to Torrevieja to seek refuge for their despicable crimes. Torrevieja does not need visitors from these walks of life. It's great that these two in particular were sent back to Britain to be tried in their court of law. Torrevieja is a beautiful, pleasant and otherwise safe city to live in and visit, but it takes some great employees with the Guardia Civil and other community agencies, and also the residents to alert the lawmakers to potential criminals living or hiding in this wonderful city.

From Toronto, Canada.
