After visiting Torrevieja’s Municipal Swimming pool with the mayor of Torrevieja, Pedro Hernandez Mateo, Sport’s Councillor, Daniel Plaza and Marco García, at the Palacio de los Deportes ‘Infanta Cristina’ he presented the mayor with the Certificate of Homologation of Sport Facilities certifying the pool for official swimming competitions such as racing, synchronous swimming and waterpolo.Snr Carpena was impressed by recent improvements that bring the pool up to the standards required by the RFEN to support international and Olympic swimming and pool events. The mayor also noted that new facilities were also being discussed to further improve the facilities of the pool, in conjunction with the Sports city Development, and did not discount the possibility to also add a Diving Pool in the future.
Torrevieja’s pool is now of a standard to allow scholarships to be awarded in Swimming Technique and places the city as one of the premier swimming establishments within the Valencian Community and indeed Spain.
