TDT repeater installed in Torrevieja

Analogue television blackout is planned to take place on next April 3, 2010.

Nowadays, when you buy a new TV, it comes already with integrated TDT (in English, Digital Television Type), but it is also possible to adapt old ones by means of a decoder connected to the same TV. The main requirement is that, when having a common aerial, as for instance in a neighbourhood, you get your aerial adapted to receive the signal.

Torrevieja has installed a TDT repeater to provide signal coverage for the whole town. The repeater has been installed at the Alto de la Casilla water deposit.

TDT is a new digital technology to spread television signal offering new benefits such as over 20 free channels, a higher image and sound quality, the possibility of watching subtitled programmes, original versions of films, with or without subtitles, and even broadcasts radio channels through the TV.
