The Bourbon Street Stompers in Torrevieja

On Monday 5 September 2011

On Monday 5 September the Teatro Municipal in Torrevieja will stage the first ever visit of what is reputed to be the best traditional jazz band in Europe.

The Bourbon Street Stompers are a 7-piece group playing authentic classic jazz from the twenties and thirties.  Surprisingly they do not come from the USA, Great Britain, or the Netherlands, but from Essen in Germany.  They are also surprisingly young, all being in their mid thirties.

They made their first visit to the Costa Blanca in 2009 but all of the concerts were north of Alicante.  This time jazz enthusiasts in and around Torrevieja will also be able to see and listen to this remarkable band.  Moreover, they will be accompanied this time by three guest stars.  These  are John Maddocks (cl/sax) from the UK, and from Hamburg  top German ragtime and boogie pianist, Markus Pohle, and female vocalist Betty Berent.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see what is probably the finest exhibition of classic jazz ever seen on the Costa Blanca.
