Torrevieja’s Salt Queen candidates

It’s not all plain sailing through, as now the candidates will go through a series of interviews, tests and trails, to be decided upon by the jury

Eduardo Dolon, the mayor of Torrevieja, along with Councillor for Fiestas, Lola Sanchez Roca, presented the three candidates as Salt Queen, the Reina de la Sal 2011/12, this past weekend week at the "Virgen del Carmen" Cultural Centre. This year’s jury consists of the Mayor, who has expressed his wish not to have any voting rights, along with Beatriz Aranda (director of the Salon "Gabana style"), Emilia Gil Casado (Queen of the Fiestas de La Mata 1993), Fernando Guardiola (editor of "Objectivo Torrevieja"), Marina Guillame (Reina de la Sal 2009), Céspedes Pilar Ros (Nichi Seijo salesgirl) Paula Martinez (Director of the Museum of Sea and Salt, with input but no vote.)

It’s not all plain sailing through, as now the candidates will go through a series of interviews, tests and trails, to be decided upon by the jury (It’s hard life but someone has to do it!) Candidates for Reina de la Sal are: Marta Ortega Lopez (Torrevieja Carnival Association), Paloma de la Concepción Cánovas Columbus (Real Club Nautico of Torrevieja) and Sarah Maria Souibrat Torregrosa (Musical Association Los Salerosos). The act of coronation of the Queen and Ladies of Salt 2011/12 will be held at the Municipal Theatre of Torrevieja, on the 26 November at 20:00.
