Yet another chapter in the illustrious sporting history of Torrevieja is about to take place, that of the first cricket match for the newly formed Torrevieja Cricket Club. The club will hold their inaugural cricket match at their new cricket ground situated immediately behind the Cecilio Gallego Sports Stadium (the on with the blue roof), on Saturday 19th  December at 1130 hrs.

Torrevieja’s Councilor for Sport Daniel Plaza has been penciled in to bowl the first over whilst Councilor for Foreigners, Pedro Valero, will take first bat! This ‘friendly’ game shall be against neighbouring team La Marina CC and everyone, young and old, is invited to come along, see the fun and maybe even sign up to join the team.

Torrevieja Cricket Club have an ambitious plan for the future and hope to both develop the junior scene in the area whilst building a strong senior squad to take on the established teams along the Costa. It’s appropriate that in the International Cricket Council’s centenary year that yet another International team should be formed and Torrevieja is proud to be last registered team during this year of celebration.
