Torrevieja kick off

The kick-off to the new football season is just a couple of weeks away and FC Torrevieja is hoping for better things than they have experienced over the past couple of campaigns.

Last week, Torrevieja’s Councillor for Sport and Education, Daniel Plaza, accompanied by Vice President of FC Torrevieja, Antonio Serna, the team's coach, Rafael Muñoz, and club captain, José Antonio Córcoles, announced new season ticket prices and showed off FC Torrevieja’s new strip for 2011/12.

FC Torrevieja play in the third division of Spanish football and finished mid season last year, in another season dogged by financial woes and controversy. With a management group still in place from last year, a new manager and a good few new players already involved in pre-season matches, which include some talent from the British Isles, the squad looks like it has been put together to play for promotion this season. The Torry Army have confirmed that they will be back in numbers supporting the club and although it’s unlikely that the heady days of 4,000 supporters in the stands will be achieved this season, if they can achieve half that, the team will be on the way to turning around the financial difficulties of years past.

This year, season tickets will be €125 euros for Tribune, with General and Retired admission set at €95 and €75 euros. Antonio Serna has announced that all fans who purchase a season ticket will receive the gift of a jersey of the new kit of FC Torrevieja, printed with the name and number of your choosing. He also announced that the budget for next season has increased by €50,000, to €300,000. The aim of the club is none other than for the torrevejense team to gain promotion to second division B, so they are putting together a strong squad of players.

Along with pushing for promotion, the club are hoping to stabilise themselves this year and put the team on a more secure financial basis. Through the Vice President of FC Torrevieja, Antonio Serna, the club now has strong ties with the APYMYCO the small and medium-sized business association, they have advertising boards available all around the club and have a desire to work with everyone to make the team the best it can be for 2011/12.
