TORREVIEJA, MORE THAN 90 DOGS POISONED IN LOS BALCONES

Precautionary measures have had to be taken by dogs' owners when taking them out to the street for a walk with a precautionous muzzle.

Los Balcones neighbourhoud is living in a climate of confusion and going through a horrible thrilling situation due to the fact that, since the beginning of this year, there have been more than 90 dogs that have been poisoned either at public gardens or at their own private gardens, after having eaten pets' food under the appearance of a common sausage.

Some residents in this Torrevieja Urbanisation have suffered the lost of even three of their pets in the last months, all of them due to poisoning. The bait is always the same: fresh meat similar to the common sausage which has been sprayed with a powerful insecticide. This type of meat is well known for being a very attractive bite for dogs.

It is not always easy to try to understand those who have suffered the lost of a pet, which rises to the point of a very tragedy to the owner. It is the case of an old man who suffers from Parkinson's desease and who used to walk around the gardens of the Los Balcones Urbanisation together to his little dog "Pepe", a dog who was more than a pet, a pet who even could give notice to the family if there would come the case of his owner suffering an accidental fall. In this particular case, it has been the tragedy to come to his own garden, for the poison itself was put over the grass on his garden.

All poisoned dogs have the same symptoms: a heavy diarrhoea, persistent vomits and shivering.

The neighbours residents at the Los Balcones Urbanisation hope to be capable of discovering who the responsible for such an outrage are because the real fact is that "sooner of later, the guilty will be found"

If you happen to see or find someone leaving or putting a piece of meat over any public garden, or even throwing it onto any private garden, please contact the authorities, for this also a powerful poison which can not only be eaten by dogs but also by children and babies.
