Torrevieja receives €730,000 to create 72 jobs
Eduardo Dolon´s major challenge of his first term as mayor of Torrevieja is to create jobs.
Last week he announced that through negotiations with the Valencian government that this job has been made a little easier as the City have been awarded a grant of €730,000 to create 72 new jobs, or for those working out the math, €10,138 per position, although it’s not quite distributed this way.
The majority of funding goes towards the project "Employment Workshop Mediterranean VI” with a grant of €569,454.90 set aside for a twelve month workshop program. The course is for 30 unemployed people and students divided in the areas of gardening, graffiti cleaning, paving and archiving. Among the projects to be undertaken is the completion of work on the green area on Avenida de la Asunción in Urb Los Balcones. A further €45,000 has been set aside for a 500-hour course directed towards IDF Workshop Immigrants for 10 students.
Torrevieja’s City Council received a grant of €75,000 for female victims of violence, as part of the "Comprehensive Employment Plan Against Gender Violence” for up to 30 users. An amount of €40,500 is for young people, serving in roles aimed towards the social integration of elderly in the Municipality of Torrevieja. Dolon said that “These measures reflected the commitment to Torrevieja by the Consul of Valencia, focusing on what is of most concern to citizens at the moment; unemployment.”
