Torrevieja Tigers Rugby Football Club are the latest reincarnation of the noble sport in the City of salt.
Torrevieja Tigers Rugby Football Club are the latest reincarnation of the noble sport in the City of salt. With the former International team making way for Torrevieja’s primarily youth squads in the shape of Club Rugby Charranes Torrevieja, the Tigers are now the latest team to offer football with an oval ball. It’s a blank page in terms of setting up the new team and the Tigers are looking for anyone and everyone with an interest in Rugby in Torrevieja including Team Sponsors for each different team, Volunteers, Referees, Trainers, Coaches, Physio not to forget, the all important, Rugby Players!
Money is always a factor in any sport, from the simplistic of things such as paying to use the facilities to the balls and the pumps to blow them up, they all cost money. Torrevieja Tigers RFC urgently need sponsors and they offer many sponsorship opportunities available at all levels, plus it’s an opportunity for rugby players of any age to become involved, referees, trainers and volunteers to assist in the general running of the Torrevieja sports club, which is based at the two million euro Nelson Mandela stadium, which open just last year, and offers superb facilities along with a capacity for around 3,000 spectators.
Ian Baker, the President of Torrevieja Tigers RFC said “Come along and be made welcome, meet the staff of the Tigers, ask questions and get to know the management. This year is going to be a good one for all the players. We were asked for matches so we have them. We were asked to be in a league; so we are. We have 22 games this year, 11 away and 11 home matches and that’s just the seniors. We have the under 18’s the under 16’s, the under 14’s, plus let us not forget the ladies! We have the Tigers rugby team in Torrevieja, so get ready for some superb rugby”
Anyone interested in what the club has to offer can pop along to an information night being held at the club premises at 1900 hrs on Friday 26 August 2011. Further information is available from Ian Baker on 650 892 044 or Glyn Horsfall on 617 357 259 or just pop along and meet us on Friday.
