Torrevieja to offer Football and Futbol Sala education courses
Jose Císcar, the Minister of Education, Sports and Training of the Generalitat Valenciana, visited Torrevieja on Thursday to present a new sports training course that will be taught in the city from 2012. During his visit Císcar also said that “with the arrival of a new Government administration, the Acequión public school will become a priority for 2012, and the budget is available to complete the project.” The minister also said that Torrevieja’s prefabricated classrooms, will disappear during this term.
In general, Císcar said his team is mapping out a community education plan that meets the needs of the population, not only regarding the construction of schools, but in language training, through vocational training places that have job opportunities, etc. In this regard he said that special emphasis was being made on new study areas, explaining that "our government has increased the training cycles, but the population and demand for these studies has grown in number. We tried to respond to this situation and guide students to derive the lessons that are not saturated and have good opportunities in the labour market." Moreover, Císcar said they are working on solutions so that students can start studies in the Conservatory of Torrevieja.
And as for the purpose of the appearance of Councillor himself, this was to announce that a new and novel sports education based course is to be taught in Torrevieja, where courses will begin to teach the specialties of Football and Futsal in 2012-13. Valencia currently has three sites where these sports are taught, specifically, Football is available in the campus of the Ciudad Deportiva de La Nucia, at the Universitat Jaume I and the Centro Integrado de Formación Profesional del Complejo Educativo de Cheste (Integrated Educational Training Centre Complex in Cheste). Meanwhile, the specialty of Futsal is provided only in Cheste.
Now Torrevieja, with its Sports City facilities and huge municipal interest in sports, will soon be offering specialty sports education classes, which aim to prepare students for careers in sports education, school sports, sports boards, service related physical activity and sports clubs, sports associations and federations and extracurricular activities of schools. The football course will be offering thirty-five places for study while the FIFA Futsal is waiting to meet enrolment demand.
