Two people run over at La Zenia (Orihuela costa)

The two deceased people, aged 45 and 46, were Irish citizens living in the area

It was around 00:30 a.m. last Tuesday when a car run over an Irish couple at the Nacional road N-332 at La Zenia (Orihuela costa) causing them the death.

The place where the accident happened is a leisure area at both sides of the road, and it is known as a black point in the province of Alicante for its accidents.

According to the Traffic Guardia Civil report, the driver, of Spanish nationality, tested positive in the breath test, and he has been taken in custody by the Orihuela number 4 Court.

The dead body of the woman was found some time after the accident happened because her body had been pulled some 15 metres from the place of the accident itself.

Several people have been run over right in the same area of this accident in the last years because there are many young people who need to cross the National road N-332 to go to the leisure area and to the many night bars.

A SAMU ambulance came to place but nothing could be done to save their lives.
