The Torrevieja’s unemployment figure reaches 10,000

In January, 310 people have swollen the unemployment list.

According to the details of the Servicio Valenciano de Ocupación y Formación Servef (the Servef’s occupational and training service of the Valencia region), the amount of unemployed people in Torrevieja reached the amount of 10,019 in January, faced to the 9,709 people of December. When comparing this figure to the same period one year ago, that is, with January 2009, we can check that within a year, Torrevieja has suffered an increase of unemployment of 2,366 additional people.

When dividing into sectors, services is the most affected one, as it counts 6,079 unemployed, followed by construction, with 3,023 unemployed, 416 unemployed in industry and 205 in agriculture.  

By sex, the figure of unemployed men reaches 5,514 people –the most affected group-, while there are 4,505 women unemployed.  

By age groups, the highest number of job seekers comprehends ages between 30 and 34 years, with 1,611 unemployed people, closely followed by 35-39 age group with 1,566 unemployed people, then by the 40-44 years age group, with 1,372 unemployed people, and age group between 45 and 49, with 1,168 unemployed people.
