The red flag was waving at all Orihuela Costa beaches.

A rough north east wind storm which reached 70Km/hour has devastated most Orihuela Costa beaches. La Zenia and Campoamor beaches have been severely damaged.

During the morning of last Saturday, the sand at beaches like the one at La Zenia Urbanisation was flooded by rough waves. The sandy area was totally covered by the sea, so that the many tourists, who visit us at this time of the year, could not enjoy a beach day.

The strong wind and the rain resulted in a drop of temperatures which in the inland areas fell down to a maximum temperature of 6ÂșC.

The fishing fleet has remained moored due to the rough storm which has resulted in waves of over 4 metres high.

At the moment, the weather has cleared up proving the summer time with typical August high temperatures.
