Work on Acequion Public School to begin shortly

THE ACEQUION Public school is to be completely rebuilt over the next 15-months with a budget of four million euros set aside for the project.

The tender has already been awarded, totalling €3,986,780. The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon said “the  Acequión Public School opened its doors in1983 and  is one of the oldest schools in Torrevieja. It will be completely rebuilt, increasing the surface area from 12,000 to 15,000 square meters,. The school will also offer three classes of each age group. At present the school has 450 students, and with the new expansion, it can hold up to 675 students.”

Eduardo Dolon noted that after the imminent signing of the contract between the company and CIEGSA, that it’s expected to start work on the project early in 2012. The mayor said that “today is a great day for the school community of Torrevieja” and highlighted the major expansion that will take place in the College Acequión, which will have new areas for sport, new gymnasium, new classrooms for Primary Education, housing for the concierge and new dining room facilities. At the press conference attended by Mayor of Torrevieja, was the director of CP Acequión, Maria de los Angeles, accompanied by members of AMPA, led by its president Ana Zapata, who highly value the award of these works to CIEGSA, and are hoping that they can meet  their deadlines.

Finally, Eduardo Dolon, thanked the Minister for Education, Joseph Cisco, and the president of the Generalitat, Alberto Fabra, for the commitment made towards education and schooling with the city of Torrevieja, thus fulfilling the promise of an imminent build the CP Acequión.
