Dyke or Breakwater of Levante Dyke or Breakwater of Levante

The breakwater that finishes at the lighthouse of Torrevieja port has become a raised esplanade more than a thousand six hundred metres long, constructed with a modern and functional structure in which wood and metal is combined.

It was inaugurated on December 7 2000 and is now one of the places most visited by tourists and 'Torrevejenses'.

It enjoys a 'between seas' view, with the Mediterranean horizon on one side and the inner harbour on the other. Several pergolas have been placed in the widest plazas of the esplanade. In one of those there is the statue of 'the woman saying goodbye to the Torrevieja sailor', a sculpture that is a must for a photograph.
