It was inaugurated in its present provisional headquarters in February 1995 and exhibits a selection of objects that constitute a reflection of Torrevieja's historic roots, such as a display of handicrafts made of salt, a collection of photographs of the time. model boats, archaeological material, articles for fishing and navigation and others. Recently there has been the outstanding exhibition of a magnificent model and diorama of the Torrevieja sailing ship "Pascual Flores", the last of Torrevieja's ancient coastal shipping fleet that is now being restored at the Salt quay after being bought by Torrevieja town hall in the United Kingdom. Without doubt one of the most important attractions of this museum is the Delfin S-61 submarine, given by the Spanish Ministry of Defence to the town of Torrevieja. This vessel can be visited in the fishing port area. All the internal sections of the submarine can be visited. The submarine has been viewed by both Spanish and international visitors and is the only exhibit of its type in Spain. It represents a milestone in the existence of the Torrevieja Sea and Salt museum.
